Within easy driving, the nearby Monkey World will provide great family fun, as will the Bovington Tank Museum with its wonderful live displays. I would stay at April’s cottage again, it was in a good location for us and met our requirements in terms of rooms, accepted dogs, parking for 4 cars. However there were quite a few negatives which could easily be rectified. Negatives: 1) only 1 tea towel, this had already been highlighted more than once in the book onsite but nothing done about it. 2) garden needed more attention - lots of weeds, overgrown on steps 3) blocked drains - we spoke to caretaker about this but nothing done about it 4) blood on bed sheet & mattress protector!! Told caretaker and nothing done about that either 5) poisonous plants at back of garden!! Unacceptable. We had to buy a fitted sheet and tea towels from local supermarket as caretaker didn’t bother doing anything about this when we spoke to them. Left msg for owner too (number in final details e-mail) but was also ignored

No hot water on the Friday seems to have been an on going problem with previous guests needed more clearer information in cottage handbook to help but plumber did sort out problem quickly gardens and front of cottage were in need of a lot of attention not like photos on website which was very disappointing as all the other places we have stayed in have been lovely it’s a shame as if these things had been done it would have been really great sorry but this one did not have the same standard as the others

Our second stay at April's Cottage, first time in the summer so really noticed how neglected the garden is. The house is spacious and great for an extended family. I would say it needs a bit of tlc as nothing updated from last winter . However, kitchen great, beds comfy, good no. of bathrooms. Loads of parking and quiet location but short car journey to supermarkets. The cleaning is adequate not assiduous and there is very little provided (first time I have had to buy cleaning stuff in a holiday house!). If you are not expecting luxury but want space, this cottage would be OK

Aprils cottage was very spacious for 6 of us and was in a private lane with plenty of parking. The welcome gift was great and the number of bathrooms a real bonus for a large group. Our only criticism would be that the website states pub and restaurant within 1 mile but that is not the case (well we couldn't find one!) as the nearest one has closed down so we think that should be corrected to avoid disappointment. Overall, lovely stay.

We had a lovely three days at the cottage which was spoilt when one of the kitchen chairs collapsed on the last evening, fortunately the person, a 76 year old, fell sideways and although bruised was not seriously hurt. It could have been a different story if he had fallen backwards and hit his head on the stone floor. There was another chair that was also in danger of collapsing. We informed the caretaker and hopefully the problem has been resolved as we would like to go back again. Lovely accommodation for an elderly but fit group especially as each bedroom had its own facilities.

This is a beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable house. We were seven up and it had plenty of room and bathrooms for everyone. The rooms were warm and comfortable, the cottage is very pretty and the garden is perfect for children and secure for dogs. The location wasn't ideal for us as walkers. Nottington lane doesn't have pavements and the closest public footpath was a dice with death to reach and even then not especially inspiring. Of course not a problem if one prefers to drive out sight-seeing. Within close distance are many lovely places to visit. We enjoyed Weymouth and drove over to Charmouth along the Jurassic coast road to do some fossil hunting. Althehampton was charming and worth a visit (dog-friendly gardens). All in all a lovely week. Note: the woodburner is currently not connected so don't book based on a cosy night by the fire!

This is a charming cottage with plenty of room and a very large homely kitchen. Having two stairways was a bonus as upstairs could be accessed without waking the children. The garden was large which was great for the young ones to play but it is not secure as far as dogs go, ours could not be left out there unsupervised. The level of equipment was brilliant and we would definitely stay there again.

Very satisfied in all regards - even laid on some snow for added novelty value.

My family and I love this cottage. It is so comfortable and spacious. What we love most of all is the peaceful location. It has a huge lounge but we spent most of our time in the kitchen, the heart of the cottage. This was our second stay in just a few months and we will definitely be back again :) q

The cottage is spacious, comfortable, well decorated and homely. The kitchen is very well equipped. We had issues with the heating so would need to be reassured that they were addressed before staying in the winter again. The plumbing in one bathroom is very noisy but it is an old house, so not entirely unexpected. There is a magnificent fireplace with a woodburner which, unfortunately, is not working. Overall, the cottage is beautiful with loads of space, inside and out.

Well furnished and spacious. We loved the bedrooms and bathrooms which were plentiful, extremely comfortable and a pleasure to stay in. The kitchen was an inviting place to eat dinner and play games in the evening, and well equipped. The lounge had plenty of seating and was cosy for such a large room. We did have a problem with the heating but this was sorted very quickly. The only thing which could have been improved was the place mats in the kitchen which weren't in great condition. Nottington was a good location for going to places, although the village wasn't particularly a pretty one nor was there a pub in walking distance, however on this occasion the comfort of the cottage was more important to us. One thing to note: please locate the name of the cottage at eye level - when in the car you aren't looking 2metres high for a sign, so we missed it several times.

Fabulous week in a beautiful cottage with so much charm and comfort. Access to many lovely towns and villages, great walks and even lots to do if the weather is not great! Can highly recommend.
