Description

Explore the picturesque market town of Sedbergh, or spend a day in Windermere. Less than 300 yards to amenities.

Sedbergh is well-placed between the Pennines, the Lake District and Morecambe Bay, while Windermere and the limestone area of the Yorkshire Dales are a short drive away. Shop 150 yards, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

Had a lovely stay - views surrounding the cottage are stunning, particularly from the bedroom. The cottage is small, but it was adequate for our needs. Great base for Kendal and surrounding area and not too far to Lake Windermere. The sofa wasn’t particularly comfortable, and I wouldn’t want to cook anything substantial in the kitchen as it is tiny but it was perfect for breakfast. Umbrellas and a dog towel were provided which was really nice and were well used. Overall, I would definitely return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cottage stay. A lovely area very near all village services and the cottage itself was very clean, nicely decorated and had a real homey feel. We would go again any time.

The cottage provides a little less space than we would have liked, but is sufficient for two and gave us all we required for a week break. The weather was a little against us, a chance you take in September, but the location is excellent for places of interest museums at Kendal, Dent, Hawes etc, all within easy reach. This would also be a perfect base for walking. We experienced a problem with the door lock, it began to jam and one morning we had difficulty opening the door, we contacted the owners, a very courteous couple, and the lock was changed promptly the following day. We would happily return to Appletree Cottage. (The apples were ripe at the time of our visit and they are very tasty !!!)

Lovely little cottage albeit a bit tired with the decor. Very well equipped and nice touch with a bottle of wine on arrival but would prefer to have a toilet roll in the bathroom on arrival! Fantastic location and stunning views from bedroom. Neither the shower drain or the dryer filter had been cleaned or the toaster crumb tray emptied prior to our arriving so I had to do - score for cleanliness would have been higher if this had been done. Overall really loved cottage and location and would stay again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Oh dear - sorry about the lack of basics. We slipped up there. In addition, we take your view on the decor seriously. We haven’t had that comment before but well definitely do some updating for the next season so hopefully when you come again well be a bit different. Thank you. Comments like this help.

Couple of small points, no dish washing liquid, no toilet roll, no toilet cleaner......small thing which one does not expect to have to go out and buy, upon arrival at the cottage. That said, our holiday was fantastic.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Oh dear - sorry about that. Thanks for the reminder - we thought it was stocked up.

lovely cottage, but in wrong part of the lakes

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I’m really sorry you thought we were in the Lakes. We are in one of Wainwrights favourite areas but we are in the Howgills between the Lakes and the Dales and actually although in Cumbria, in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s about a 40 minute drive to Windermere. However lovely our area is - if you wanted somewhere else it can be disappointing.
