Overall a fantastic holiday, loads to do in the area, cottage has perfect location, kids loved the chickens, donkeys and pigs. Could have done with a more comfortable sofa and an umbrella for the outside sitting area but other than that the cottage was fantastic.

The lodge has many excellent features; location, building design and build quality, fittings of a high standard, good quality furnishings. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. And the settees are exceptionally comfortable. There is one shortcoming which I strongly advise the owners to remedy as a matter of urgency. The walk-in shower has a tiled floor which becomes very slippery when wet. Furthermore, the tiles next to the drain slope, necessarily. Yet there was no shower mat or handrail, nor was there a warning notice. To young guests this may not be a problem, but to an 82 year old with artificial knees, it most definitely was. I showered without mishap by dint of standing on socks. Should someone fall and injure themselves, I think the owners would be liable. Incidentally, the shower itself is excellent. Now to some suggested relatively low-cost additions which are needed. • A soap-dish in the shower • A stool in the shower room (for the elderly!) • Shelving next to the wash basins for washing kit • An upright chair in each bedroom for putting the morning’s clothes on • Waste bins • A shoe rack near the entrance • A washing-up brush • A pair of scissors • An information book giving information about nearest shops, pubs and restaurants, doctors, churches etc as well as instructions for the lodge. • While we appreciated the four eggs put out for us, and the even fresher ones we collected later, the welcome pack is not a pack at all, just a few items ‘to get us started’ We wouldn't book here again because we never go anywhere twice. But for the reasons above, we will not recommend to friends of our age (78 and 82)

We enjoyed our stay at Apple Lodge. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Ideally situated for many attractions. Rural, peaceful and relaxing. A perfect place to unwind. The only thing I would mention is that we have stayed at many cottages and this is the first one we have been to that did not have any leaflets for local places of interest/places to visit. Nor was there a file with details of nearby local amenities such as the nearest shop, supermarket etc. This however, is not in anyway against Apple Lodge, just helpful information. We would certainly recommend as a place to stay.

Lodge was very well equipped, clean, spacious, and lots of outside space. Kids loved waking up to the cows, donkeys, pigs, and collecting the eggs from the chicken coup each morning! We enjoyed the peace and family time at this lodge, but was also close to Wells, Glastonbury, and Street when we wanted to shop or explore. Tina and Nick were lovely hosts who were there if you needed anything. I would recommend to family and friends without hesitation. We're already discussing a second visit!
