Enjoying peaceful surroundings, these comfortable holiday homes provide the ideal base for exploring Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park. Single-storey Meadowside (ref REEO) is detached, whilst Woodside (ref REEN) and Lakeside (ref REEM) are ground floor and first floor wings of the same larger property. The area is popular with walkers and many walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep. Other activities available locally include cycling, horse riding, climbing, canoeing and water sports. Fishing in the private carp lake (for guests’ use only) and trout stream is available by arrangement with the owner (please note that no equipment is provided and barbless hooks are necessary). It is also a birdwatcher’s paradise with many species of waterfowl flying in and out of the parkland at various times of the year. Other species of birds include oystercatchers, heron, cormorants, owls, kestrels, woodpecker and even the occasional red kite flying over and a yearly visit from swans. Each property has its own seating area and there is seating all around the grounds from which to enjoy the scenery. Lakeside (ref REEM) also has use of the summerhouse. Located in the small parish of Offcote, the barns are just 2½ miles away from the market town of Ashbourne, which, apart from its historic buildings and cobbled market place, offers a good selection of shops and cafés. Other places of interest within driving distance include Chatsworth House, Carsington Water, Alton Towers, Churnet Valley Steam Railway and Bakewell, as well as NT attractions such as Kedleston Hall (9 miles), Dovedale which is great for walkers (7 miles), Haddon Hall and Sudbury Hall. Shop and restaurant 3½ miles, pub 2 miles. These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.

A nice cottage in a lovely location. Well-equipped cottage, close to the main locations of the Peak District. The communal seating area is very small, but was sufficient for our party of three, but may not be suitable for those who want more space. Bedroom and bathrooms were very good. Similarly the steps up to it would not suit everyone. We tried to grill some breakfast, but the smoke alarm went off too easily; it even went off when a bun was toasted at the far end of the kitchen, despite not being burnt. Most cottages now give a small welcoming pack, even if just milk and bread, but we were left Carnation Milk and a few biscuits only.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback regarding the smoke alarm. I have checked the unit and decided to replace it with a different model which has eliminated the problem. The reason we supply small milk pots is to ensure they are within the use by date. It is difficult to supply fresh milk when offering our guests the flexibility of any day start to their holiday. The welcome pack we provide contains biscuits, milk pots, tea, coffee, sugar, sweets, spring water, tissues, shampoo, hand wash and toilet roll. The aim is to enable guests to have a drink and snack after their journey if they have not had time to shop before they arrive

A great place to stay with loads to do in the local area. The sitting space is quite small which was fine for us but would be full up with 4 adults. Lovely comfy beds and well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. Warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere.

I think with the check in after 3:00 and the check out before 10:00am which means that if you hire the place for a weekend, your stay is less than two days, the price is too expensive.
