Allanton Mill Cottage is nestled in a wooded valley on the edge of the small village of Auldgirth. Every window affords lovely views whatever the season. This former mill dates back to 1739 and just oozes charm and character from its original beams and yet offers every modern comfort from the large walk in shower to the roaring wood burner. The living area is a lovely cosy space with two deep and wide windows affording delightful views and feature, exposed wall opening through on to rear hall. The dreamy flow of the nearby burn is both delightful and relaxing. The property offers holiday makers an ideal location from which to explore this beautiful and historic county.
The grounds of Allanton Mill are a delightful mix of areas, from stepped and fenced terraces, a lawned area with some steep and unfenced slopes and generally set within a natural state. There is a fast flowing burn at the bottom of the garden however this area is divided from the accessible garden by a padlocked gate set in a wall. Fishing available nearby.
There is a farm shop and tearoom in Closeburn, just five miles away. Thornhill, six miles distant, has several shops and Dumfries, eight miles, has a 24-hour supermarket. Beach 22½ miles. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
