Greystoke lies on the north east edge of the Lake District National Park in the Eden Valley and is 4 miles from the traditional market town of Penrith. There are delightful walks on the estate and cyclists will enjoy winding through the attractive villages and wild flower-laden country lanes. Ullswater, known as the most romantic lake, and the Keswick area with its spectacular high fells, are both within a 20-minute drive. A free outdoor heted swimming pool (season) and playing field can be found just a 5-minute walk away. This location is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and those wishing to unwind in a beautiful, relaxing and peaceful setting. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

    A lovely short stay for a family celebration get-together! Plenty of space inside and out for kids and dogs. Kitchen was well equipped, with everything needed and lots more!

    Our party of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this handsome Manor House. The house was full of character but had all the modern equipment and amenities necessary to ensure a relaxing and restful stay. The owners Márie and Neville could not have been more friendly and helpful. We did not feel as if we were ever staying in someone else’s house or intruding but instead staying close to friends. They were the perfect hosts.

    A wonderful place to stay when visiting the lakes. Having stayed here 3 times I could not recommend it enough. Anybody who stays here will not be disappointed.

    House and location is superb,ideal for a family get together.The house has the best equipped kitchen I have ever seen in a holiday let. The owners are friendly,welcoming and helpful.We will definitely be returning to Algar's Garth.

    A fabulous property packed full of character and history set in a rural village. Very spacious but cosy and warm and suited to larger families / groups. The kitchen was superbly equipped.A lovely warm welcome from our hosts who live next door. Dogs are not just allowed they are made to feel very welcome.Excellent local gastro pub (very popular so need to book). Post office / village stores at hand for anything you might need. Within easy reach of the lakes, Keswick, Penrith etc. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend Algars Garth.

    We are a Reading Group of 4 couples from Merseyside who stayed at Algars Garth in early March when it was very cold and there was a strong cold Easterly wind. However, from the moment of our arrival, when Neville and Maire greated us warmly, we had the most lovely of weekends. The house was warm, roomy, full of character and well-equipped with a great attention to detail. We had several walks, visited the local pub, and enjoyed being together in the lovely warm lounge, cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, and eating in the spacious dining room. It filfilled our needs perfectly, for which we were very grateful.
