Description

This delightful holiday property couldn’t be in a better location for exploring historic Clitheroe and the beautiful Ribble Valley.

Clitheroe has many individual shops, great bars and restaurants as well as a castle with one of the smallest Norman keeps in Britain. This centrally located cottage is just around the corner from The Grand, a contemporary auditorium hosting regular music events, cinema nights and much more. There are plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, mountain biking and fishing in the Ribble Valley and surrounding areas. Further afield, the Yorkshire Dales can be reached within 45 minutes, and the Lake District, Blackpool and the Fylde Coast within an hour. Shop and restaurant 100 yards, pub 150 yards.

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend and had a lovely relaxing time. The cottage was clean and cosy and had everything we needed. The garden was very small but had been made to look really pretty so as we had lovely weather we spent a lot of time sat out there in the sun. Although the property was near a busy street and 2 minute walk from a big supermarket it was actually lovely and quiet. The castle and the shops were within walking distance so once we had parked the car we didn't use it again all weekend. The owner is lovely, although we didn't meet her she left us friendly notes and even posted back my kindle charger that we had left behind.

Overall great place to stay. Lovely little blacksmiths terrace cottage, beautifully furnished inside and out, with most facilities well thought out and considered. Ninn left us with fresh milk and some Parkin cake which was a nice touch. She has lots of leaflets on places to go in the local vicinity so you don’t need to do to much homework before you arrive. The kitchen is small but fully equipped with a oven, microwave, sink and all the pans, crockery and utensils that you are likely to need. The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a lovely waterfall shower which can be switched to a normal shower head if needed. The bedroom is above the living room and has a very comfortable bed and bedding. We opted for the bed to be made up as a double but it could be separated as two singles if preferred. The cottage is in central Clitheroe so within easy reach if everything in the town. The only negative is that parking is slightly difficult as you are relying on availability of parking in the street on a first come first served basis. We did park on the Majestic car park around the corner if there wasn’t a space in the road which was alright but a bit of a pain when we arrived and wanted to unload our luggage. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would recommend it for couples wanting a weekend away.

Centrally situated close to all amenities yet quietly located. Clean, comfortable, well equipped cottage with everything thought out well by its caring owner. Good woodburner, comfortable bed, fluffy towels. Parking can be tricky but after unloading we didn't use the car, some good walks from the door. Loved it and planning to return soon.
