Ideal base for touring

The views from these cottages have to be seen to be believed. Set in the Lake District National Park in an elevated position with stunning views over the Lyth Valley and open countryside to the hills beyond. Addyfield Properties make comfortable holiday home from which to walk direct from the door or for touring in the Lakes.
Just two miles from Lake Windermere at Fell Foot and only 5 miles from Bowness-on-Windermere with its wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants. Grange-over-Sands 7 miles. The location is perfect for making the most of one of England’s most beautiful National Parks. Excellent walking, climbing and a wide variety of watersports can all be enjoyed nearby.
Don’t miss Lake Windermere, perhaps one of the most evocative of the Lakeland waters - craggy fells and mountains of matchless beauty are carved by becks tumbling down to the lake below. Take a trip to the house of Beatrix Potter, where her imagination was stirred to create Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck, or many of Wordworth’s inspirational locations. We spend New Year here, beautiful location away from it all, lovely and peaceful and great views. The Mason Arms a 15 min walk, really good food. We loved the log fire.

Just watch your head! Fantastic view, total lack of noise was a welcome respite from the city. Well equipped kitchen although slight lack of cutlery. Spacious sitting room with lots of cosy chairs around the open fire. We would love to revisit.

Really enjoyed our stay in this farmhouse. The views are marvellous and the house has everything for a home from home stay. We would definitely go back again.

We loved the location. The farmhouse was a good size for our party. It could do with a few extras like more bedroom storage and maybe a washer dryer though we hung out our clothes. There was an extra bed we weren’t expecting in one room but we were told not to use it or would incur additional fees which was a bit odd but overall a lovely stay.

This was our 2nd year staying here, we love it. The cottage is really spacious, great for a large family like ours. If you are looking for peaceful isolation with stunning views, this is the place for you. The cottage is very clean and is well equipped. It could use a new DVD player for evenings or days in, as the current one sticks. In winter you may have trouble with the steep hills and sharp turns on the approach to the cottage unless in a 4 wheel drive.

Addyfield Farmhouse is a lovely place to stay. It has spectacular views, an excellent pub just down the hill, and the owners were very friendly and very helpful.

A lovely cottage with a fantastic view. We went as a party of 7 and found it a great place to stay. The only slight downside was that apart from the local pub you needed your own transport to get anywhere, on the other hand other places wouldn't have had the view. On balance the cottage is somewhere I would comfortably recommend partly because there was nothing not to like but mainly because the view from the cottage helps you to unwind and I never tired of it.

Just returned from a brilliant week in the Lake District with family and friends. Cottage clean, well equipped and cosy. Lovely warm welcome from the owner with roaring fire and tea and biscuits awaiting our arrival. Views from cottage amazing with lots of places of interest within easy reach. We very much look forward to visiting again in the future.
