A cosy, former miner’s cottage nestling in the delightful and ancient village of Bonsall, near Matlock, on the edge of the stunning Peak District. Acorn Cottage is a mid-terrace cottage lovingly restored and individually styled to offer all the comforts of modern living but still retaining the charm of this wonderful cottage, including a beautiful old oak staircase that has a 90-degree turn and a very small landing. The open plan living area boasts a cosy wood burner, ideal to relax and unwind by after a busy day exploring the local area.
The charming and traditional conservation village of Bonsall is situated in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, 4 miles from Matlock. Named in the Domesday Book, with a history dating back to Roman times, this former lead mining and textile producing village is renowned for the World Hen Racing Championship’s held on the first Saturday in August at the Barley Mow pub. This part of Derbyshire has a rich heritage, with nearby Cromford being home to the Arkwright Mills and Crich, playing host to a Tramway Village. Matlock Bath is just a short drive away and is the base for the cable car leading to the Heights of Abraham, a sixty-acre hilltop country park. Walkers and mountain bikers will delight in the magnificent trails that abound in this part of the Peaks, whilst watersports enthusiasts are well-served by Carsington Water, which is just 7 miles away. A cosy and comfortable Bonsall cottage, perfect for a holiday at any time of the year. Shop and restaurant 200 yards, pub 100 yards

What an amazing time we had in this cosy little cottage. Great walking routes straight from the doorstep. Bed comfortable, lovely deep bath, and well equipped kitchen. The wood burner was lovely, especially as it was snowing on our arrival.

Lovely little cottage in every way but only if you don’t mind a very small space, we were expecting that as very familiar with the village of Bonsall so we know what the properties are like but not everyone may realise that! Bonsall is a very beautiful but quiet village, one extremely good pub on Dale Rd called the Barley Mow but only open evenings and weekends. The other pub Kings Head is below average. Fountain Tea Rooms and shop are fabulous. Short drive to other villages, Cromford, Wirksworth, Matlock - lovely part of Derbyshire

Had a lovely relaxing weekend away on my own with the dog. Very cosy little cottage. Stairs very steep but you get used to them. Steps to garden impossible particularly for dodgy knees and small dogs but there is a little outside yard which is convenient.

Acorn cottage is in a great location to visit the Peak District. In a friendly village, with a local shop, tearoom and pub with everything else you need in nearby Cromford or Wirksworth. The cottage was really warm and cosy, and the bathroom was a real luxury. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed at.

A lovely cosy cottage to spend a long weekend. Not far from loads of places too. Lovely cafe for breakfast and lunch at the bottom of the road and a lovely cosy pub at the top of the road. The cottage was well equipped with a nice bathroom and woodburner.
