A cosy, former miner’s cottage nestling in the delightful and ancient village of Bonsall, near Matlock, on the edge of the stunning Peak District. Acorn Cottage is a mid-terrace cottage lovingly restored and individually styled to offer all the comforts of modern living but still retaining the charm of this wonderful cottage, including a beautiful old oak staircase that has a 90-degree turn and a very small landing. The open plan living area boasts a cosy wood burner, ideal to relax and unwind by after a busy day exploring the local area.
The charming and traditional conservation village of Bonsall is situated in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, 4 miles from Matlock. Named in the Domesday Book, with a history dating back to Roman times, this former lead mining and textile producing village is renowned for the World Hen Racing Championship’s held on the first Saturday in August at the Barley Mow pub. This part of Derbyshire has a rich heritage, with nearby Cromford being home to the Arkwright Mills and Crich, playing host to a Tramway Village. Matlock Bath is just a short drive away and is the base for the cable car leading to the Heights of Abraham, a sixty-acre hilltop country park. Walkers and mountain bikers will delight in the magnificent trails that abound in this part of the Peaks, whilst watersports enthusiasts are well-served by Carsington Water, which is just 7 miles away. A cosy and comfortable Bonsall cottage, perfect for a holiday at any time of the year. Shop and restaurant 200 yards, pub 100 yards

Acorn cottage is in a great location to visit the Peak District. In a friendly village, with a local shop, tearoom and pub with everything else you need in nearby Cromford or Wirksworth. The cottage was really warm and cosy, and the bathroom was a real luxury. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed at.

A lovely cosy cottage to spend a long weekend. Not far from loads of places too. Lovely cafe for breakfast and lunch at the bottom of the road and a lovely cosy pub at the top of the road. The cottage was well equipped with a nice bathroom and woodburner.

We had a lovely time at acorn cottage. The property is really comfy and cosy and was just what we wanted. We didn’t cook for the whole time we spent here as we visited as many of the local pubs and eateries as possible but the facilities in the cottage are more than adequate should you fancy staying in. It’s brilliantly situated for exploring the Peak District either by foot or car.

We had a lovely weekend stay. The cottage is so pretty and quirky. We loved the bathroom, especially the roll top, free standing Bath. The cottage was very cosy and welcoming. Would definitely return. Especially in the spring or summer months, when you can appreciate the cute garden with stunning views. The village pub literally a few yards from the cottage is very friendly and welcoming.

A beautiful cottage decorated for Christmas. Very clean, lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Kitchen styled well however not very well equipped (chipped crockery, lacking pots and pans etc) Nice welcome pack, property was lovely and warm, and the housekeeper was informative and easy to contact.
