This property suited our needs very well as we were a four generations group, and the ground floor bedroom and shower room was very useful.

Very nice house with all the features needed for a week with the family. The location is very good, just a few steps from the centre of York while at the same time very good accesible by car.

We have stayed in this house numerous times. It is in a fantastic location with good private parking. It is very central so you can leave your car and walk everywhere, with local shops 2 minutes away for your newspaper and a pint of milk. The house is immaculately clean on arrival, and very welcoming. It is a home from home with everything you could ask for. The new owners have updated the bathrooms and the furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. I had some questions before our visit this time and Sue was very prompt and helpful when answering my emails. I cannot recommend this house too highly. We have already booked for our annual visit in 2018!

Fantastic house, absolutely perfect! The owners really have thought of everything. Stylish and comfortable. Very high standard of cleanliness. Brilliant location, only 5 minuets walk to the centre of York. Me and my 6 friends loved it here and will definitely return.

Abbeygate House provided our family with a very comfortable and elegant base for the week. The bedrooms were spacious and bathrooms modern and clean - marvellous having one on each floor. The kitchen area is well designed and the ample dining space meant we had several happy evening meals with 8 round the table. The owner is very kind and efficient and we can't recommend this lovely house highly enough. As for the location - fantastic!

Excellent place to stay: welcome pack really useful when you arrive somewhere and just want a tea or coffee before unpacking. Facilities good as well. As an example, the television isn't one of those budget combined TV/DVD players with a screen smaller than a computer monitor that a lot of cottages have. This was a full size television: that meant a lot to the children. The owners have clearly invested in this property and that makes a big difference to how the place feels when you are staying there. The location couldn't be better - just cross the bridge and you are in the centre of York. Everything in York is within walking distance and, after a long drive, it was good not to have to use the car for a couple of days. We can't recommend this place highly enough. If you want to visit York, I don't see how you could find anywhere better!

A lovely , well equipped house with everything thought of . Comfortable beds , all kitchen needs provided , spotlessly clean throughout and just a really nice house to be in . Excellent shopping parade a couple of hundred yards down the road . And opposite city walls . Really , what more could you ask for ?
