Leave the car and take the many flat, off-road footpaths either down to the lakeside and marina, or into the popular town of Keswick, with an abundance of shops, outdoor specialists, cafés and restaurants. Further along, you can catch the Keswick Launch from Nichol End, a beautiful way to see the surrounding fells from the lake. Cat Bells is a popular fell, worth an evening stroll for a quieter way to enjoy the views, or continue along the lake shore path to Brandlehow Park. Beach 20 miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub ½ mile and restaurant 50 yards.
