Nestled within the heart of this attractive ’wee toon’ of Gatehouse of Fleet, 5 Tannery Brae is a perfect base for exploring this relatively undiscovered but stunning area; welcome to glorious Galloway! Gatehouse lies in the middle of a National Scenic Area fringed by the UK’s largest Forest Park. 5 Tannery Brae is a cosy and welcoming ground floor apartment for couples only a stone’s throw from the many facilities offered by the town. Relax on the patio backing onto Garrie’s Park and you could be a million miles away. There are birds aplenty, red squirrels and the occasional deer in the park. The Mill on the Fleet is now a visitor centre where you can read about Gatehouse’s fascinating history including the benevolence of a local landowner. The Cairnsmore of Fleet dominates the head of the valley whilst the ancient oak wood at Castramont provides colour throughout the year particularly in Spring when it is carpeted in bluebells.
