Nestled in the hillside, this magnificent building has the most spectacular views across the valley towards the mighty Skiddaw range, from its elevated location on the edge of Thornthwaite village. Ladstock Hall was a very grand country house hotel, a renowned venue for weddings, it has now been converted into several apartments and cottages, the standard of which is excellent.  No.5 is a split level apartment furnished and equipped throughout to appeal to the most discerning guests. It offers an open plan living space with a leather suite with full reclining sofa. Thornthwaite lies three miles to the West of Keswick at the foot of Whinlatter and close to Bassenthwaite lake. This area is great for mountain biking in Whinlatter forest, walking on the surrounding fells and sailing or fishing on the lake. There is a bridle way immediately behind Ladstock Hall where you can walk to Braithwaite, a little over half a mile, which has a village shop, restaurant and two pubs each serving good food and real ale. A lovely apartment in a beautiful location, with fabulous views. It's a quiet location away from Keswick, but only a five minute drive into Keswick itself. The apartment is well equipped and feels more like a home than a holiday home, very comfortable.

Given the 5 star rating, and comparing with other 5 stars, the customer doesn’t really feel valued… demands about emptying all bins, leaving dishwasher empty, stripping beds and no flowers/biscuits/complimentary bread etc aren’t consistent with other properties at this rate and rating. The cutlery and cups were not clean (assume not checked after last guest). The bathrooms are not quality material consistent with a five star

Fabulous location and views and lots of varied activities to do. Very comfortable beds, good bathrooms and linen, the furniture was well maintained and it was very clean and fresh. A few too many decorative objects for my taste and slightly odd art work but those are fine for a week. I did notice a few bulbs not working and there could have been some little things added for convenience, like pegs, up to date tourist information/leaflets and a welcome pack which could help fulfil the 'luxury' tag. We had a fabulous week, were lucky with the weather and would return.
