Located in the village of Lindale on the southern tip of the Lake District National Park and easily accessible via the M6 and A590; this semi-detached, single storey cottage is ideal for couples wanting a comfortable base from which to explore all that the South Lakes has to offer. Whilst the cottage is fully equipped for self-catering it also has the advantage of being next door to a great pub which serves food. The village also has a Post Office and small local store. A wider range of amenities can be found in the Edwardian seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands, 2 miles, including shops, supermarkets, pubs and cafés. There is also a nice promenade and park, and the surrounding estuary and countryside is a haven for birds and wildlife. You can actually walk through the woods from the cottage into Grange-over-Sands which takes approximately half an hour.Other popular towns worth visiting within easy driving distance of the cottage include Cartmel, 4 miles, a traditional Cumbrian village famous for its sticky toffee pudding, race course and Michelin starred restaurant. The towns of Kendal, 12 miles, Windermere, 13 miles and Coniston, 20 miles all have plenty to offer day trippers. The market town of Ulverston, which is the birth place of Stan Laurel and home to the world’s only Laurel and Hardy Museum, hosts many events and festivals throughout the year. The southern tip of Lake Windermere is a 10 minute drive away where you can visit the Lakes Aquarium or take a boat out on the water. Coniston’s shores are just over 20 minutes drive from 1 Broomhill Cottage and here you can enjoy a quieter lakeside location with the Coniston Fells in sight, and a pier to launch boats. Over the border into Lancashire, the coastal town of Morecambe and the historic city of Lancaster are both within a 30-minute drive. Popular tourist attractions nearby include the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway, 7 miles, Lakeland Motor Museum, 6 miles, Holker Hall and gardens, 6 miles, Sizergh Castle, 12 miles, and Levens Hall and Gardens, 7 miles. Should you wish to take a break from driving, there are buses from Lindale into Kendal, and the train station at Grange-over-Sands has services into Carlisle, Preston, Lancaster, the Cumbrian coast and Manchester Airport.Whilst most people visit the area to walk, there are plenty of other outdoor activities on offer. There is a golf course within 2 miles, a leisure centre with swimming pool at Kendal, 12 miles, and at Grizedale Forest, 13 miles, there is mountain biking, Segways and the Go Ape treetop adventure. Other popular activities include climbing, fell running and watersports. Offering something for everyone, this is a great base from which to explore all that this beautiful part of the country has to offer, and at the end of the day’s activities you can relax and unwind in front of the cottage’s wood burner or pop to the pub next door.
