Holiday cottages in Wales offer a fantastic mix of beautiful landscapes and vibrant cities. One day you could be enjoying the unrivalled tranquillity and expansive views of Snowdonia, and the next you could be joining the throng at Cardiff’s majestic Millennium Stadium. To borrow a well-worn phrase, Wales truly is a destination with something for everyone. Wales really is a country of highlights, with an incredible array of fantastic attractions, both natural and man-made. One of the best ways to get your bearings is to head upwards, so we’re going to recommend a trip to Snowdonia National Park first. If you’d like a bird’s eye view of your stunning surroundings there really is no place like it. The circular Precipice Walk offers a slightly challenging two-hour trek but the pay off is expansive views as far as the eye can see. Mount Snowdon is easily accessible thanks to a train ride, or a climb for more intrepid visitors. However you choose to reach it, the views from the surrounding landscape are breathtaking. Less taxing, but no less beautiful, is the Pembrokeshire Coast. The UK's only truly coastal national park offers stunning limestone cliffs, soft golden sands and cool blue waters as far as the eye can see. Wales’ industrial heritage is celebrated at the Llechwedd Slate Caverns. One of the country’s premier tourist attractions, it offers both a fascinating insight into the lives of the miners and a truly unique landscape to explore and admire. If you fancy a more vibrant holiday experience then there are few better locations than Cardiff. Like Wales itself, the capital city offers a wonderful celebration of history and a wealth of contemporary attractions, so it’s perhaps unsurprising to find out that it’s also one of the most popular destinations for those with Welsh holiday cottages.

    This is an excellent, central location on the Llyn Peninsula, giving easy access to all corners, with mountains, beaches and many attractions. The bustling market town of Pwllheli is within a few minutes’ drive and has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, not to mention the stunning beach which seems to go on for miles, topped with grassy sand dunes. Criccieth with its historic, hilltop castle and beach is a little further to the east, as is Porthmadog with the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways. Take the steam train on a nostalgic journey through the breath taking scenery of the Welsh mountains from Porthmadog in the south, to the delightful town of Caernarfon in the north, with its majestic castle standing proudly at the harbour.
    The seaside villages of Nefyn, Abersoch and sleepy Aberdaron are within easy reach and worth a visit, as is the stunning village of Porthdinllaen, situated literally on the beach. Nant Gwrtheyrn on the north coast is a disused quarry village, and a café provides refreshments after a bracing walk down to the beach.

    Situated on a beautiful stretch of the Upper Wye Valley, Tudor is one of five properties which have been created by the imaginative conversion of a 19th century inn, although the original stone cottages have a history going back to the 18th century when they were occupied by an agricultural worker, a blacksmith and a coffin maker. The “Middleton Arms” as it became, was owned by landowners whose seat was at Llyn Parriad and later it changed its name to the “Vulcan Arms” in homage to the Vulcan God of Fire, god of the blacksmiths. It sits on the old Cambrian railway line and was an important hostelry for those using Doldowlod Halt station until the line was closed in the 1960’s. Today the holiday cottage offers every modern comfort whilst still retaining the best features of the old inn. Tudor is a detached cottage which is spacious and characterful, and has wheelchair access. It offers easy access to the A470 via a slip road; Sustrans cycle routes, the River Wye which is right on the doorstep, Wye Valley Walks and the Red Kite Centre. A very short walk from the apartment will bring you to a shop, post office and café. A stop for buses to Llandrindod Wells and Rhayader is nearby.

    The town of Rhayader is 7 minutes drive away and the area is home to the spectacular dams and reservoirs of the Elan and Claerwen Valleys. There are events on throughout the year and this is the perfect base for the whole family to experience stunning outdoor attractions including fishing, and discover rich and rare wildlife in the rolling Cambrian Mountains.

    Tudor has use of a large garden, shared with the other cottages, with plenty of outdoor furniture including tables, benches and umbrellas, and there is storage for cycles as well as a jet wash and repair kits, or you can even arrange to hire a bike.
