Tucked away in the former slate quarrying village of Bethesda, is this contemporary holiday property, situated close to the sound of the tumbling water of the River Afon Ogwen. The Penrhyn Slate Quarry is located in the village, by the end of the 19th century it was the world’s largest slate quarry, and now you can soar over it at Zip World Snowdonia, the longest zip wire in the northern hemisphere, reaching speeds of 100mph! Visit the neo-Norman fantasy castle of Penrhyn Castle (NT), which is located a short drive away near the university city of Bangor. Close by is Llanberis, the village at the foot of Snowdon, from where, if you’re feeling energetic, you can climb up to the 3,560ft summit, or perhaps let the train take you up on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. If beaches are more your thing, the Isle of Anglesey is only a short drive away and offers 125 miles of glorious coastline.
