Powys is a tranquil and peaceful county situated in Mid Wales. The county is mostly made up of smaller towns and villages and has plenty of rural space for the ultimate quiet getaway.

Though Powys is a quiet and relaxing place to spend a holiday, this doesn''t mean there is a lack of things to do while you''re there. It is the largest county in Wales, hosting plenty of attractions. For example, there are a number of cave systems located in Powys, including some of the most extensive in Wales. Various tours allow you to explore these caves for yourself and to see the unique and awe-inspiring beauty of these natural formations.

The area now covered by Powys includes five historic counties, giving it a varied past which today has given birth to plenty of heritage sites and other attractions. For instance, there are six castles within Powys''s borders. These range from Aberedw Castle, which lies in ruins, to Powis Castle, which still stands as a grand and imposing country manor. The county also has a number of museums, including Brecknock Museum, which hosts artefacts dating back as far as the Stone Age and occupies a Grade II listed building.

Nonetheless, the quiet rural beauty of Powys is one of the biggest draws, and this itself provides visitors with plenty to do. In most parts of the county the scenic walks are absolutely delightful. There are several wonderful set walks and trails in the county which provide excellent views of local scenery and of nature.

Outside, the garden has a small grassed area which leads to a raised decking area with Bistro Table and Chairs where you can enjoy the sunshine and listen to the trickle of the nearby stream.  At the top of the garden you will find a Summer House which is fully insulated and lockable and is furnished with Leather sofa and chairs. The private off-road parking is for three cars and has a lockable garage which is ideal for storage of your bicycles.  Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant offers, less than just 100 yards away from ‘Tan y Bryn’ three fine eating and drinking establishments complete with olde world charm, and across the picturesque bridge you will find a family Butcher, grocery shop, Post Office and Cash Machine.

This unique retreat offers breathtaking views across a vast expanse of timeless, unspoilt countryside. The beautiful lounge invites you to spend an evening in front of the fire; watching a film, reading a novel, listening to the eclectic selection of LP’s, or even roasting Chestnuts on the fire. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly want to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable providing maps and even binoculars during your stay. The kitchen diner has the modern, country comforts and is well equipped - sit around the wood burner at the dining table or the comfortable chairs provided and while away the hours chatting about your adventures of the day. The cottage has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 comfortably and has capacity for more, and has the benefit of a bathroom and separate shower room. The open barn provides safe storage for bicycles and all your outdoor gear. The great private garden of approximately 1/4 of an acre is only overlooked by Red Kites and Sheep! It has an open pit BBQ, swing and a caravan in the garden which is overflowing with a variety of outdoor equipment, including outdoor games, a selection of wellington boots, buckets and spades, Crab Lines and fishing nets, racks for the BBQ, picnic hamper set and cushions for the outdoor seating. There is even wood cutting equipment for replenishing the log basket from the large wood store. There are no bounds to the adventures to be had as there is open access to the mountainside and stream right on your doorstep.
