Find cottages in Caernarfon

The historic town of Caernarfon lies on the Menai Straits and was once home to Roman Emperors and Celtic Princes. This ancient walled town was fortified by Edward I with the building of its magnificent 13th century castle. Today the town and its surrounds provide a perfect location of a cottage holiday in North Wales.

With a warm, Welsh welcome guaranteed, a large selection of shops and cafes and one of the most impressive castles in the entire United Kingdom, it is no wonder that Caernarfon has been a favourite destination for tourists for many years.

Nestling on the banks of the Menai Straits, with the river Seiont running through and looking out towards the Isle of Anglesey, Caernarfon has so much to offer visitors. The dominant presence in the town is undoubtedly Caernarfon Castle, the sheer scale of which still manages to take your breath away. This majestic structure has stood proud over the town for over 700 years and remains largely unchanged. It is fully deserving of its status as a World Heritage Site.

Take the Welsh Highland Railway, where you can ride on narrow gauge steam trains that depart from near to the castle grounds.

Younger members of the family are well catered for with the indoor Hwylfan Fun Centre; the largest of its type in North Wales, here there are slides, rope swings, a mini go kart track and a laser quest adventure area.

Caernarfon has a lovely marina area with shops and eateries and being within easy reach of the Isle of Anglesey and Pwllheli, it’s suitable for great family days out. The lovely Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia National Park lies just to the south.

Search for Caernarfon holiday cottages now and experience one of the finest resort towns in Wales.
