Find cottages in Aberdaron

Aberdaron is a small and charming fishing village situated at the tip of the Llyn Peninsula; it’s blessed with lovely sea views, and provides an unspoilt cottage holiday destination for a relaxing holiday by the sea.

There are plenty to offer visitors here, including for those interested in Welsh heritage and the rich maritime and mining history of the area. The seas around Aberdaron are particularly perilous and there are several ship wrecks that dot the landscape, as this small village was once part of a major sea route for manganese. The bridge over the Afon Cyll-y-Felin is Aberdaron’s most popular landmark and this stone construction dates back to 1823.

A stroll through the village will take you past the notable buildings of St Hywyns Church, dating back as far as the 11th Century, and Y Gegin Fawr, which was built in the 13th Century as a communal kitchen for pilgrims but now serves as a tea room. The village also features typical iron and stone built sheds that are used by the fishing community, and rows of picturesque whitewashed fishermen’s cottages line the streets.

Holidaymakers can take their pick from a wide selection of outdoor activities and there are several excellent beaches dotted all along the coast. The sheltered coves, or ‘poths’, are the perfect place to relax and children can build sandcastles or paddle in an idyllic setting, whilst parents sit back and enjoy the view. In addition fishing, canoeing and sailing can all be found in the area and the village has an active surfing community.

For those who enjoy a good walk or cycle ride, the Llyn Coastal Path is the perfect way to explore the area and the panoramic views across the sea and countryside are unforgettable.

If you are ready for a holiday that’s literally a breath of fresh air, take a look at holiday cottages in Aberdaron today.
