    Step outside the grounds and choose from one of the many lanes and footpaths to explore, some take you along the unspoilt Ceredigion Coast Path and others through ancient woodland. Or make your way to the secluded National Trust cove of Cwmtydu, one mile, renowned for smugglers and pirates, the legendary Sion Cwilt was one such smuggler who used this bay in the 18th Century. The beach itself is pebbly and seal pups can often be seen here during the autumn months. Cwmtydu is nestled into the coastline, with paths offering excellent walking opportunities and connecting all the local beaches. For those who would prefer, the Cardi Bach bus service is a special summer only service, which takes travellers from Cardigan to New Quay and back twice a day between June and October. It links all the beaches in between and can transport two bikes.

    Nearby Llangrannog boasts a picturesque beach, two pubs, two cafés and chip shop, all enjoying fabulous sea views. Why not taste homemade ice cream at the cafe, there are 25 flavours to choose from! Follow the cliff path to the pretty harbour town of New Quay, four miles, watching out for dolphins, seals, peregrine and choughs en-route, all the while relishing in the spectacular unspoilt scenery. New Quay is a firm favourite for dolphin spotters, with several operators offering wildlife boat trips, along with a centre offering water sports training. Why not wine and dine at one of the pubs or restaurants, many specialising in seafood.     A journey of just 10 miles northwards takes you to the Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, where you can wander through interesting streets of multi-coloured houses and along its pretty quay side.

There are plenty of facilities available for guests free of charge, including croquet and badminton, a heated covered swimming pool, all-weather tennis court and a children’s play garden. You can also enjoy the country park which is less than a minute’s walk and has a 200-acre reservoir and an impressive 100ft dam, the largest game fishing in west Wales. This is a beautiful woodland setting with a delightful nature trail for both walkers and cyclists, and an 8-mile perimeter trail providing fine views and a variety of wildlife including badgers, foxes and otters. The broadleaf woodland provides a breeding site for sparrowhawk, buzzard and woodpecker, whilst the lake attracts uncommon water bird species such as little gull and black tern. Set in the heart of Pembrokeshire, giving access to beaches, national park, the historic Preseli Mountains and the worlds famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Coastal Path. Within a short drive is Oakwood Theme Park. A holiday in Pembrokeshire would not be complete without a visit to the picturesque harbour and the golden beaches at Tenby or the busy resort of Saundersfoot, a complete contrast from the more secluded parts perhaps, but always popular with children.
