Find cottages in Llandovery

Llandovery is an ancient market town in a beautiful rural location, its name translates as ‘the church amidst the waters’, because of its location in a valley where the rivers Bran, Gwydderig, Towy and Bawddwr meet. It lies on the edge of The Brecon Beacons National Park and is perfect for enjoying an outdoor activity holiday straight from your very own cottage in Carmarthenshire!

The ruined Norman castle dominates the town, and you can learn all about its chequered history and that of the local area, at the Heritage Centre next door. The Llandovery Theatre stages an eclectic programme of event all year round including most suitably the annual sheep festival.

Many visitors stay in the area and use it as a convenient base to explore all the gorgeous Carmarthenshire countryside that encircles the town. The extremely scenic Brecon Beacons National Park is just to the east and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, and some truly superb walking routes. The Carmarthenshire coast and historical towns lies to the south for lovely, relaxing days out.

The whole area resonates with echoes from the past. A short distance away lays Llyn y Fan Fach, setting for the famous Arthurian legend of The Lady of the Lake. Also well worth a visit is the beautiful reservoir at Llyn Brianne, where the deep valley was once dominated by the lead mining industry.

Enjoy a relaxing holiday in one of the UK’s most beautiful locations; search for cottages in Llandovery.
