For walkers it is a great spot as the Southern Upland Way is close by as are the rolling Moffat Hills which hide some spectacular waterfalls and some deep corries and this is where the River Tweed begins its scenic journey. The newly opened Annandale Way is the new 55 mile long distance walking route linking Moffat and Annan. The annual walking festival is highly recommended although there are organised walks throughout the year. Strathannan has a cosy sitting room with a multi fuel stove just the ticket to re live the day’s walking accompanied by a glass of wine. Moffat itself with its double high street offers lots of specialist shops, cafes and hotels.
