    Camuslongart Cottage is a lovely detached stone cottage positioned right on the shores of Loch Long in the stunning West Highlands. From the conservatory that runs along the front there are absolutely stunning views over the loch to the mountains of Kintail and a glimpse of the fairytale castle of Eilean Donan. The resident otter is very likely to put in an appearance too. There is a charming cottage lounge with exposed stone wall and large wood burning stove. All three bedrooms are well presented in a traditional cottage style, each with their own wash basins. The kitchen is small but well equipped and there is a modern bathroom on the ground floor. Camuslongart Cottage enjoys an enviable position, situated at the end of a short track on the edge of Loch Long, where it joins Loch Alsh and Loch Duich. There are wonderfully scenic walks direct from the property. For water sports enthusiasts the location is second to none. Canoes and small craft can be launched from the cottage grounds, and for larger craft there is a pier in Dornie, just across the water. Here there are a number of excellent restaurants serving good local produce, or just stay and unwind by the log fire with a dram.

    The immediate area is heaven for outdoor enthusiasts and lovers of the great outdoors generally. Hill-walking, climbing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing are all local sports. There is a thriving pony trekking centre in the village, with rides amidst spectacular scenery. Fishing in the surrounding lochs and rivers as well as sea fishing is a popular pastime. The area is also a haven for wildlife, with seals and otters in the bay and numerous varieties of birds attracted to the region. The beaches in this area are renowned. Sandwood bay is particularly noted, with a wonderful walk across the machair to its secluded sweeping sands. Sheigra bay is about 500 yards away from the cottage and Polin and Oldmoreshore are also close by. Kinlochbervie is the nearest main village. The most northerly port on the west coast of Scotland, this pretty village has an active working harbour and offers good local facilities, including a shop and post office, as well as a hotel with restaurant open all year to non-residents for meals.

Plenty of walks are available in the area, not least up The Bin Hill, a well-known local route. Look out for wildlife; otters and the famous Moray Firth dolphins may be spotted, or inland birds of prey and deer are common sightings.

The pretty village of Poolewe has excellent local amenities, all within easy walking distance, including restaurants, cafés, shops, a pub, and there’s even a swimming pool.     Broughty Ferry is considered the ’jewel in Dundee’s crown’, it’s fine seafront esplanade and sweeping sands provide the perfect place for a relaxing stroll or a quiet picnic. An ideal choice for small ‘his ’n’ hers’ golf parties, it also offers visitors the perfect base from which to enjoy some of the finest golf courses to be found anywhere in the world. There are several courses in and immediately surrounding the city as well as being just seven miles from the famous Carnoustie Golf Links and 16 miles from St. Andrews’ courses, home to the British Open 2015. Barnhill Rock Garden is well worth a visit and for walkers there are the great Angus Glens just waiting to be explored. In the city itself are numerous parks, gardens and museums as well as cinemas, excellent theatres and shopping outlets. Willow Tree Cottage is an ideal base for exploring this wonderful area and one visit will not be enough!
