The lovely village of Crianlairch is located eight miles north of Loch Lomond, is close to the Trossachs National Park on the edge of the Scottish Highlands and nestles in Glen Strathfillan. Despite its rural location, Crianlairch is well served by transport links and is an excellent location for a rural cottage holiday break.

There is a railway station in the village, and it’s a stop on the famous West Highland Line, said to be one of the most scenic railways in the world. In summer, the cafe opens on the platform and serves afternoon teas. For days out without the car there are conveniently placed railway stations should you choose to take the train to the north, where the line branches off to Oban or out across Rannoch Moor or south to Loch Lomond and Glasgow.

If you like walking, you will be spoilt for choice in Crianlairch. The village is located close to Scotland''s most famous walking trail, The West Highland Way. The trail passes through some spectacular scenery, including lochs, glens, forests and moors and links Milngavie, just outside Glasgow to Fort William.

The hills and mountains around Crianlairch offer some excellent hillwalking and climbing. Towering above the village are the twin peaks of Ben More and Stob Binnein, and it is possible to climb both. Peaceful Loch Dochart is only a mile away from the village and is a starting point for climbing the mountain. Further down the river are the scenic Falls of Dochart and the beautiful village of Killin.
