There is an open plan living space with kitchen, dining and lounge areas. The two bedrooms provide comfortable space for three people. Lochview has its own garden patio area with ample car parking space. From the patio there are views of Loch Lubnaig and the surrounding mountains. A short walk over the road and through a meadow (3 acres) gives access to the loch side for fishing (permit required) or just relaxing. You can launch a boat or canoe locally into the loch. The property is only two miles from the village of Strathyre, which has a shop/post office and there are a number of good places to eat and drink.

Auchendennan Farm Cottage (SLLX) is a single-storey holiday cottage; within the house there is a large family sauna which can be used as an ideal way to unwind. Outside on the sun decking, there is a sunken hot tub which is large enough for all the family and powerful enough to give tired muscles a proper massage. Rose Cottage (SRRG) is a single-storey conversion adjoining the owner’s farmhouse. Combining modern and traditional furnishings, the property boasts a superb hot tub and external sun decked area for relaxing and unwinding. Burnbeag (SVVE) is a stunning, detached cottage to the rear of the steadings and has a stream running through its private enclosed garden, which has a decked area and hot tub. Courtyard Studio (SVVD) is a single-storey barn conversion set in the courtyard, behind the main house. Chestnut Cottage (SXXO), Willow Cottage (SXXP), Primrose Cottage (SXXQ) and Ivy Cottage (SXXR) are all pretty single-storey, semi-detached holiday cottages, with open-plan living areas and a cosy, wood-burning stove.
    In summer, Loch Lomond’s ancient oak woods ring with birdsong. Look out for redstarts, pied flycatchers and wood warblers. Ospreys are summer visitors to the loch and nearby Lake of Menteith. In the high country of Breadalbane, golden eagles may be seen soaring over mountain slopes richly carpeted in alpine plants. Watch out for porpoises and seals and glimpse Loch Lomond’s herd of fallow deer as they bound through the trees. Loch Lomond and Loch Earn are some of Scotland’s prime venues for sailing and water-skiing, while the rivers Balvaig and Teith are popular with canoeists. The Teith is also a great salmon river and one of many places popular with anglers. For golfing enthusiasts, the famous courses of Loch Lomond are just a short distance from the property, with an abundance of courses for all standards within easy reach.
    Walking is a popular pursuit, from gentle low-level strolls to strenuous mountain climbs. Ben Lomond, Ben Lui, Ben Ime and Ben Vorlich are among the 21 Munros (mountains over 3000 feet). The West Highland Way stretches from the edge of Glasgow to Fort William, hugging the banks of Loch Lomond and passing through the spectacular mountain scenery of Strathfillan. There are great opportunities for cycling on and off road on National Cycle Network Route 7, which passes through the National Park from Balloch to Killin. It is in an area of great natural beauty, lying between the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the Argyll Forest Park, and the spectacular seascapes of the west coast of Argyll, yet is very accessible (approximately a 90-minute drive from Glasgow) and makes a perfect base for touring and walking. Strachur village itself is well provided with amenities and has an excellent hotel which welcomes non residents for drinks and meals. It also has a well-stocked village shop with attached tea room and bistro, all of which are within easy walking distance of the cottage. There is a slipway where a small boat or dinghy can be launched, and also tennis courts. Nearby, there are interesting and historic towns and villages. Inveraray is the closest town. Oban, known as the ’Gateway to the Isles’, with its colourful harbour, and the dramatic mountains of Glencoe, near Fort William are scenic day excursions. In a different direction, the Kyles of Bute are nearby and in yet another direction, you pass through the mountainous scenery of the National Park to Loch Lomond with its cruise boats. With Loch Eck literally just across the road, and with a private mooring, perfect for small boats and canoeing, and daily fishing permits on the loch (at cost) it’s great for those who want to enjoy the outdoors. Red squirrels and woodpeckers are often seen in the garden. From the front of the house there are spectacular views of the loch and of Beinn Mhor. You can walk from the back garden through the gate (a bit of an adventure!) and along the ridge to Puck’s Glen, a beautiful woodland walk with a charming waterfall, or use the car park nearby. Benmore Botanic Gardens are a short drive away, and another lovely outing could be a visit to Inverary with its famous castle and jail, possibly stopping at Loch Fyne on the way. Oban, Ben Nevis, Glencoe and Fort William are all excellent day trips, or you might like to try a spot of quad biking, about six miles away. The village of Strone is close by and has a 9 hole golf course. Nearby Dunoon is a pretty town with many shops, restaurants, a swimming pool and a cinema, and is known as the ‘gateway to the highlands and islands’. There is good sea fishing. The property is also well situated for those wishing to visit the World’s biggest Highland Games event in Cowal. This annual event is one not to be missed with Highland dancing, pipe bands and plenty of entertainment for all the family.

    After exploring the area you can relax in the garden with a glass of wine and admire the view or curl up with a book in front of the wood burning stove. This is a cottage for all seasons. There are stunning local walks and cycle rides in the vicinity, or you could take a trip to the Isle of Bute or the Kyles of Bute. Blairmore and Strone Golf Club (open to all) is about eight miles from the cottage and affords spectacular views across Holy Loch.
