Isle of Arran

The Isle of Arran off Scotland’s south west coast grants you exclusive access to one of the UK’s most naturally beautiful and relaxing locations. Arran’s beauty is renowned and its status as one of Scotland’s most alluring holiday destinations is well known. But despite this Arran is considered something of a hidden gem.

When you choose to stay in an Isle of Arran cottage, you can be sure that there’s plenty of ways to entertain and relax holidaymakers of all ages. Those interested in Scotland’s whisky heritage will not be disappointed and would be well served with a visit to the Isle of Arran Distillers; there you can take an entertaining tour of a relatively modern distillery and maybe even sample the products!

You won’t be surprised to see that Arran’s heritage is also on display at the Isle of Arran Heritage Museum. The museum showcases the island’s history and traditions through a series of fascinating artefacts. The island’s ancient heritage can also be explored at the mysterious stone circles on Machrie Moor. This ancient monument may be of unknown origin but it offers visitors an incredibly atmospheric experience, not to mention a fantastic walk.

Arran has lots of open green expanses, a dramatic coastal location and a colourful history. Brodick Castle, Garden and Country Park is so well preserved that a visit today can’t be too far removed from what life was like in its heyday, minus the Vikings of course! The open gardens are a delight to walk through and the wildflower meadows presents Arran at its most beautiful. The castle itself is equally worthy of a visit, with an array of paintings and treasures from around the world.

The open expanses and coastal locations are also perfect for dog owners looking to treat themselves and their four-legged friends to a welcomed break. In fact Arran offers a great holiday mix of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, those seeking an active break, Island culture and heritage and history enthusiasts eager to learn more about Scottish culture.

If you’re ready to relax, unwind and enjoy one of Scotland’s most beautiful locations then take a look at our selection of holiday cottages on the Isle of Arran.
