Gordon Castle certainly has a fascinating history; from its initial connections with King Robert the Bruce to being instrumental in creating the first legal whisky distillery at Glenlivet, and of course its continuing association with the famous Gordon Highlanders, it is a wonderful place to visit. Lakeside Cottage is on the castle estate and is very comfortably equipped. The cottage is situated next to the ornamental lake in the castle grounds and makes a cosy retreat.
Nowadays the estate is renowned for being one of the finest sporting estates in Scotland, where fishing and shooting are well catered for. In addition, other water sports can be arranged, such as white water rafting or kayaking on the magnificent River Spey. The Moray Firth is rated one of the top ten coastal destinations in the world by National Geographic and it is easy to see why; explore the rugged coastal paths between Inverness and Peterhead and take in the magnificent scenery, superb beaches and varied wildlife. Travel inland to Whisky Country – many famous distilleries are within an easy drive or for golfers there is a plethora of good courses for both beginners and more advanced players. The world famous Baxters of Speyside is across the river in the town of Fochabers where there are plenty of good shops, pubs and eateries.Lakeside Cottage can be booked together with Garden Cottage (CC511479) and Courtyard Cottage (CC511481) to accommodate up to 16 guests.
