Find cottages in Glasgow

Glasgow is most defiantly one of Scotland’s most vibrant and interesting cities and from your holiday cottage in the area it provides both a first-class cottage break in beautiful rural surroundings combined with easy access to a fascinating city.

It was named a UNESCO City of Music in 2008, and was the European City of Culture in 1990. It is one of the most visited cities in the British Isles, has some of the best shopping outside of London, and has numerous free museums and parks. It’s on the doorstep of beautiful countryside, most notably Loch Lomond, The Trossachs National Park and the lovely Clyde Valley.

Glasgow has more parkland than any other British city, and among the pick of the green spaces are the Botanic Gardens, Glasgow Green, Kelvingrove Park and Greenbank House and Gardens in the suburbs. Day trips are available along the River Clyde from close to the city centre, onboard the paddle steamer Waverley. Glasgow University, Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow Cathedral, the Glasgow school of Art and City Chambers are among the buildings of architectural interest.

Tours of Ibrox Stadium (Rangers FC), Celtic Park (Celtic FC) and Hampden Park (National Stadium) are available. The spring-time Glasgow International Comedy Festival is held annually and regular stand-up can be experienced at Jongleurs, The Stand and other clubs throughout the city. Other annual festivals include The West End Festival, the Glasgow International Jazz festival and the Merchant City Festival. There are regular music concerts and theatre productions in the city''s many live-performance venues.

Among the nearby excursions are the traditional Scottish village of Houston, upmarket Kilmacolm, which is home to many Scottish celebrities, the leather tanning town of Bridge-Of-Weir, the Isle of Arran with its many historical and archaeological sites, Loch Lomond, Edinburgh and the Ayrshire coastal towns of Troon, Prestwick, Largs and Ayr.

Book one of the excellent holiday cottages in Glasgow and surrounding area and check out everything that this great city has to offer.
