This is the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk whose story of his shipwreck off the coast of Chile provided Daniel Defoe with the inspiration to write Robinson Crusoe, and whose statue is in the village. There is a local store, craft shop, local pub and restaurant, sailing club and Lundin Links Golf Club. There is a great selection of golf courses in the area, and the championship courses of St Andrews are only 11 miles away.
    You can follow the Fife Coastal Path to pretty fishing villages and sandy beaches and coves, explore Iron Age caves and view wildlife, including a variety of seabirds and colonies of seals. Aside from all this, the Kingdom of Fife is home to some outstanding summer arts festivals, many historic sights and great hill walking.
