Argyll and Bute

The Argyll and Bute region has been a favourite with holidaymakers for years and it’s easy to understand why with so much beautiful countryside, lochs and coastline to admire.

The extensive choice of holiday cottages in Argyll and Bute provide the perfect base for great outdoor breaks, lovers of breath taking views and those who simply enjoy relaxing holidays!

With miles of unspoiled coastline, fantastic gardens, a wealth of history and heritage and lots of fantastic opportunities to get out and about amongst lovely countryside, there’s so much on offer here it can be tricky to decide where to spend your days.

The region is perfect for walkers and cyclists who want to escape into an unspoilt landscape of mountains, forests and lochs and its extensive coastline offers visitors plenty of opportunities to get onto the water; there is excellent sailing, kayaking, surfing and windsurfing.

You’ll find holiday cottages that aren’t exactly short of beautiful surroundings that are literally right on the door step, for example take some of Argyll’s stunning gardens such as Benmore Botanic Garden, which has an incredible mountainside setting and a world-famous horticultural collection, including a stunning array of flora from all over the world or Inverary Castle Gardens and stately home on the edge of Loch Fyne covering 16 acres.

Of course whisky plays a large part of Argyll and Bute’s heritage so it goes without saying that a visit to the Oban Distillery is well worthwhile. Learn all about single malt production on the tour then maybe sample a wee-dram afterwards!

If you’re looking for something a little more active then drop by Stramash Activity Centre where you can enjoy lots of adventure and activities including kayaking, mountain biking, orienteering and more.

The landscape of Argyll and Bute is rich and varied, offering a wealth of choice and a variety of different holiday themes to suit families and couples alike. The rolling open countryside and large expanses is a delight for humans and pets alike, which will enjoy the opportunity to stretch their legs!
