    Ref: UK5012
Delve into the past and explore the history of Glamis and its castle, the legendary setting of Shakespeare’s ’Macbeth’. Hecklers’ House is one of the traditional 18th-century cottages which make up the centre of this quaint village. With its stone walls, sash and case windows, it is typical of this quaint village. The name comes from the textile trade and the Jute industry in Dundee, where to heckle was to tease or comb out flax or hemp fibres before they were spun. When Hecklers’ House was built, the industry was thriving in Dundee, but there was a flax mill in Glamis where the majority of the villagers worked. Further amenities are found in nearby Forfar and Kirriemuir (birthplace of J M Barrie of ’Peter Pan’ fame) and there are several golf courses within an hour’s drive, including St Andrews, Carnoustie and Rosemount.
