Find cottages in Huntly

The small town of Huntly and the surrounding area provides an excellent base for your cottage holiday in Aberdeenshire; ideal for exploring both the beaches of Moray Firth, and days out in the Cairngorms to the south.

Spend an afternoon exploring the ruins of the 12th century Huntly Castle and see the tapestries, artwork, furniture and china at Leith Hall dating to 1650. Brander Museum and Library also provides an insight into the town''s history.

There are many attractive public parks and open spaces that provide entertainment for children and the whole family will be entertained at the award winning Peregrine Wildwatch. There is a falcon flying demonstration at the Falconry Centre, which also has a picnic area and cafe.

There are a number of pony trekking centres in the area, and treks are available along beautiful woodland trails. The starting point of Highland Horseback, Scotland''s longest horse trail, is located nearby. It runs approximately 200 miles to the West coast of Scotland. Trout and salmon fishing are available on the Rivers Bogie and Deveron, whereas Nordic walking is available in Clashindarroch Forest. Walking, cycling and mountain biking are also popular.

This impressive holiday apartment, reached by a spiral staircase, stretches across the Fyvie Castle’s Preston and Seton towers. It is decorated in a tastefully traditional style with turret rooms and cosy nooks for reading or just relaxing. The glorious silhouette of Fyvie Castle stands among hectares of landscaped parkland, steeped in centuries of history. Fyvie is a fairytale castle with over 800 years of history. Its huge handsome structure is a prime example of Scottish baronial architecture. Inside, elaborate wood panelling, suits of armour and tapestries symbolise the wealth and power of the castle’s succession of owners.
