Here guests will find an impressive stone built home which is marvellously positioned on a hillside and has magnificent views over the countryside below. Guests can enjoy the view from the shared swimming pool as well; the gardens feature oak, cypress and olive trees as well as vineyards. Each apartment has a private external area with garden furniture. The area surrounding the town of Poggibonsi, known for its history, was already inhabited by the Stone Age, and the first prehistoric monuments, in particular the field of tombs, can be dated back to the Etruscan-Roman period. A Street in Poggibonsi called “Pilgerstrasse” lies on the old pilgrimage route between France and Rome (Via Francigena). Amongst the old buildings, it would be worthwhile to visit the 13th-century Pretorian Palace and the Romanesque Gothic church of the order of Augustus San Lorenzo. The fantastic arts centres of Tuscany and Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca and the small medieval villages such as San Gimignano and Volterra are with easy reach by car.

With a timeless ambience, it is best known for its connections with the famous 14th century poet Francesco Petrarca, who spent the last few years of his life there. The village lies about 20km from the thermal spa towns of Abano Terme and Montegrotto Terme, famous for their mud therapies and thermal water pools. From this convenient base, you can explore the major cities of art of Veneto which include Venice 65km, Padua 30km and Vicenza 65km.

This holiday apartment is set on a farm in the Roman countryside, in a flat area surrounded by greenery. The property, accessed by a gravel road, consists of 13 apartments and the owners live in a wing of the villa. On the estate, dairy cattle are bred and fodder crops (maize, grass) and extensive cereal crops (wheat) are cultivated. On site is a large garden, an outdoor swimming pool, a children’s play area and even a private chapel, which are shared among all guests. There is a riding stable and polo field in the immediate vicinity, Albano Lake is 15km and the city of Rome is 30km.

The owners, a very welcoming couple, live in another farmhouse 900m from the property, and will welcome you with a good bottle of Vin Santo. The residents of Vista Bella share a splendid oval-shaped swimming pool with a magnificent, sunny terrace equipped with garden furniture. Each apartment also has its own private, outdoor terrace. The owner organises a small festival to celebrate the wheat harvest in the last week of July, with a parade of tractors and combine-harvesters. The owner also has a riding school with 16 horses and an instructor, and can organise riding lessons and rides with overnight stops through the vast, 120 hectare estate or wine tastings of the local Chianti Rufina wine and cooking lessons. Meals made of the local produce, which is conserved in the farm’s authentic 11th-century cellar, can be arranged on request (lunch and dinner on the night of arrival).
