Beautifully set amongst old trees and in an idyllic location for a real getaway, this detached barn has been a labour of love by its owner, who is an interior decorator and lives next door. The owner has even managed to salvage doors from nearby Ashford Castle. Her husband, a chef by trade, can offer his services and meals can be prepared or he can give cookery lessons. The cottage can also be decorated, by prior arrangement, for special occasions. While the holiday property has its own sitting-out area, the grounds comprising of 8 acres are open to be explored and strolled through if desired. There are miles of quiet country roads to be walked, as well as the Hill of Knockma, which is a gentle climb, where on a clear day the views take in the surrounding countryside and Lough Corrib. The grounds of Ashford Castle in nearby Cong are beautiful for a stroll. The town of Headford is 5 miles away and offers fishing, boat hire and ghillies. Galway City, home to a myriad of festivals, including the Arts Festival, racing festival, film festival and many more, is a mere 15 miles, whilst Tuam is 9 miles. There are 18-hole parkland golf courses in Tuam and Ballinrobe. The property is wonderfully located for those wishing to tour the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, Connemara and Achill, as all are close enough for a day trip, and then maybe return to Blackberry Lodge for dinner prepared by the ’in house’ chef! Beach 20 miles. Shop and pub 2½ miles, restaurant 5 miles.
