    Gurteen Beach and Dogs Bay are located close to Roundstone village and are renowned for their particularly white sand. Pods of dolphins are a regular sight in the bay. The beaches are very popular with windsurfers, dinghy sailors and kite surfers. The bay is also a treasured place for geologists and archaeologists alike. The remains of many early Christian settlements have been found on many of the islands on the coast and sea fishing and boat tours are available from the harbour. Kylemore Abbey and Connemara National Park are just a short drive away.
