It’s a holiday destination that has something for everyone, from quiet county walking to adventure sports and cosy traditional pubs to plenty of family friendly activities. Situated in the south west corner of Ireland, County Cork is the largest county in Eire where visitors can enjoy a diverse landscape of sandy beaches and hidden coves, woods and valleys and rugged peninsulas.

Fashionable Cork is the second largest city in Ireland, with a city centre built on an island in the River Lee, accessible by a number of bridges and a short distance from the harbour. This vibrant city has a continental feel to it and a fine festival programme of jazz, folk, film and literature all year round. It’s also home to Cobh Heritage Centre and the Cork City Gaol museum, as well as the Cork Opera House and the Cork Arts Theatre for a truly cultural experience, along with the Crawford Art Gallery and the Glucksman Gallery for art lovers.

Blarney Castle is definitely worth a visit while you’re here. Built around 1446, the castle is home to the famous Blarney Stone where legend has it that after kissing the stone, you will be granted the ''gift of eloquence''. There are many opportunities for beautiful walks, such as the walk through Fitzgerald Park which takes you past Elizabeth Fort. Other sights include St Finbarre''s Cathedral which is a fine example of classical architecture, and Cobh the port from where the Titanic last stopped before its fateful disaster.

The scenic port town of Youghal to the east of Cork, is a focal point for water sports, family entertainment, golf and fishing. There are also riverboat trips and whale watching excursions. East Cork has several Blue Flag beaches and for a great family day out visit Fota Wildlife Park.

West Cork is a place of winding coastline, peaceful walks and great cycle trails; explore the rugged peninsulas of Beara, Sheep’s Head and Mizen Head.
