La Garde-Adhémar is a listed ’most beautiful village of France’, one of the best preserved medieval villages in the region, and has a great deal of character with significant parts of its original defensive ramparts. The highlight of the village is the lovely 12th century Roman-style church with octagonal tower. The pretty village of Grignan is dominated by a large 12th century château. Also in Grignan, look out for the 19th century Fontaine Sévigné on the Place de l’horologue or the belfry built in 1600. Saint Montan also has a hill top castle, accessed via the maze of narrow streets with character buildings. Or at the bottom of the village is a small river with a few shops and restaurants.
