For wonderful beaches you''re spoilt for choice. Visit the resort of Royan with five sandy bays ranging from secluded covers to acres of golden sand. If you like to get away from it all visit the car free Aix Island, and take a horse and cart tour to visit the house where Napolean surrendered to the English. The villages of La Roche Chalais, Saint Emilion, or nearer Saint Aigulin are all less than half an hour’s drive, while the magnificent city of Bordeaux is one hour away. The River Dronne offers fishing and canoeing, and there is also a beach on the river at Aubeterre with water sports and pedalos. Also a welcoming water park is in La Roche-Chalais that the children will love! There are lovely markets all around but the one not to be missed is in Libourne three times a week. The Dordogne can be explored one hour away. A perfect location for a peaceful holiday!
