For wonderful beaches you''re spoilt for choice. Visit the resort of Royan with five sandy bays ranging from secluded covers to acres of golden sand. If you like to get away from it all visit the car free Aix Island, and take a horse and cart tour to visit the house where Napolean surrendered to the English. Olreon Island is also another wonderful destination with no less than 25 sandy beaches and the famous Chassiron lighthouse. The Gironde Estuary is packed with charming fishing villages.
