Peacefully located on the outskirts of the lovely medieval village of Mirepoix, in the Ariège, this modern, light and spacious detached holiday villa is in a large enclosed garden leading down to the beautiful River L’Hers. Mirepoix, the centre of the Cathar country, with its many castles and ruins, has a lively square with shops, cafés and restaurants. The square is bounded by 13th-century houses, the longest covered galleries in France and the 15th-century cathedral, and it is also the scene for wonderful Monday and Thursday markets. Stroll around the historical ‘Ville Rose’ of Toulouse, or enjoy its marvellous shopping. Explore the region’s ancient market towns, enjoy the excellent walking and the limestone caves and gorges in the foothills of the Pyrénées. Or, spend the day around the large pool, lunch on the covered terrace, enjoy an evening al-fresco meal or barbecue down on the riverbank with a bottle of the excellent and inexpensive local wine. Fly via Carcassonne or Toulouse.
