Limousin is one of France’s smallest regions, located on the north western edge of the Massif Central. Geographically in the centre of France it’s a holiday destination for those who enjoy unspoilt beauty, quiet countryside, picturesque villages and the great outdoors; a real gem waiting to be discovered for those who choose to stay in one of selection of villas in Limousin.

Divided into the three ‘departements’ of Creuse, Haute-Vienne and Correze, Limousin offers something for everyone and its regional capital, Limoges, is a town filled with art, history, riverside walks and pleasant parks. The old city centre features buildings that date back to mediaeval times including chateaux, old bridges and a magnificent cathedral. The town is internationally renowned for its porcelain, so take the time if you can to visit the Porcelain and Tapestry Museum.

A visit to Oradour sur Glane is a monument to the horrors of war. This martyred village has remained frozen in time since it was destroyed by the Waffen SS in 1944. The exhibition centre by the village is extremely informative and tells the tale of this terrible event.

For those interested in architecture, Limousin has some wonderful examples of Romanesque design and there are also medieval monasteries, castles and basilicas that deserve to be explored. Many of the villages in the region remain almost completely unmodernised and holidaymakers can step back in time and admire the beauty of an area that is largely untouched by commercialism.

Still somewhat off the main tourism track, Limousin is filled with areas of great natural beauty and many of quaint, small villages dot the hills and outliers of the Massif Central.
