Find cottages in Staithes

Take the narrow steep road down to the charming fishing village of Staithes, where pretty seaside cottages huddle together alongside the winding cobbled streets.

There’s a different view to enjoy around every turn in this traditional and historic fishing village when you take a stroll round its winding narrow streets with their rows of neat Staithes cottages. Walk in the footsteps of Captain Cook, not to mention a good many smugglers and learn about their history at the Captain Cook & Staithes Heritage Centre or see the work of local artists at the Staithes Gallery.

You can step down to the harbour where you might see fishermen landing lobsters, a big part of the village’s economy nowadays, or perhaps spend some time on the little beach. But if you want to see the village at its best, it’s worth the effort to climb the steep valley sides to be rewarded with glorious panoramic views from the top.

To explore further afield, the village is a great touring centre for that part of the Yorkshire coast, including nearby Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. A short distance inland is the magnificent rolling moorland of the North York Moors National Park; just perfect for days out.

So get ready for a few days of doing not much and start searching for Staithes Holiday Cottages today.
