The quaint market town of Settle is the perfect cottage holiday location for exploring Ribblesdale and the Dales National Park, it’s surrounded by magnificent countryside and picture-postcard villages; ideal for active breaks with lots of country walks, cycling tracks and bridleways.

If you fancy something more adventurous rock climbers should head for Castleberg Rock or try your hand at pot holing; there are some famous cave systems in this part of Yorkshire. The ‘Three Peaks’ are also close by for some challenging walks with wonderful views. For something less energetic take a scenic drive around the Dales, stopping off at pretty Dale’s villages for some afternoon tea or a pub lunch.

The Leeds-Settle-Carlisle railways stops at Settle and provides a wonderful day out, travelling through the most beautiful Dales landscape and the children will love the falconry centre just out of town.

The weekly market takes place every Tuesday and is the perfect spot to pick up some souvenirs for friends and family back home.
