National Trust Holiday Cottage
This delightful, detached, single-storey, stone cottage sits in an enviable location at the top of Ravenscar with panoramic sea views towards Robin Hood’s Bay. Boasting cliff top walks from the doorstep, this is a perfect location for ramblers, or those just wishing to sit back, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Ideal for exploring both the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. A short drive leads to the North York Moors and Harwood Dale where there are many picnic areas, cycle tracks and fishing lakes to enjoy. The coastal town of Scarborough is just 11 miles away, and boasts two bays, north and south, with an eclectic mix of shops and traditional seaside entertainment.
Further south is the unspoilt Edwardian seaside town of Filey with miles of sandy beaches and rare sea birds nestling in the cliffs that surround the bay. To the north there is the well known historic port of Whitby, overlooked by the ancient abbey ruins. It boasts a marina, a busy colourful harbour and a 3 mile stretch of sandy beach. Cobbled streets, ginnels and alleyways are packed with antique and curio shops, inns and tea rooms. Sea going trips can be enjoyed from the harbour. The ancient market towns of Kirkby Moorside, Malton, Hemlsey and Pickering are all easily accessed, and the weekly markets are still a main attraction. Historic homes, halls and castles abound in this area, with Rievaulx Abbey, Castle Howard, Burton Agnes Hall and Sewerby Hall and Gardens to name but a few, all make for a great day out.
