There is a farmers market that takes place on occasion on the cobbled market square, along with numerous tourist attractions to visit including the historic Richmond Castle that stands high on the hill and overlooks the thriving town below. Guests will find many woodland walks that pass right through the town and further beyond into the Yorkshire Dales. Those who enjoy walking through flora and fauna really must take a visit to Foxglove Covert Nature Reserve, 4 miles, which covers 100 acres of moorland and has a remarkable mix of habitats and species. The reserve contains semi-natural woodland, heathland, flower-rich grassland, streams, ponds, a lake, willow and alder carr, coniferous woodlands and wet meadows. The popular Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk leads from the town.
