Kettlewell is a charming Yorkshire village in Upper Wharfedale, and the meeting place of the Kettlewell Beck and the River Wharfe. A tranquil and beautiful slice of the Yorkshire Dales, it offers plenty of historic attractions and outdoor activities.

Once a thriving market town, Kettlewell was almost destroyed by flood in 1686 and as a consequence many of buildings were rebuilt after this natural disaster. The remains of a smelting-mill can be found near the meeting of Dowber Gill Becks and Cam Gill and the church, which remains in use to this day, was built in 1820. The chapel was built at Scargill House in the 1960s and is a fine example of 20th Century architecture, contrasting with the 17th and 18th century architecture.

There are many home industries in Kettlewell and locally made produce is in abundance thanks to the extensive network of neighbouring farms, many of which also open to the public in the summer months.

Located within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Kettlewell is a walker’s haven and makes an attractive base for anyone who enjoys exploring the surrounding limestone terraces, rolling green hills, valleys and rivers. There are also plenty of opportunities for cyclists to explore the quiet, winding lanes and nearby villages, and for the more adventurous, a ride out into the farmlands offers breath taking scenery.

    Local attractions such as The Forbidden Corner, Aysgarth Falls, Hawes Rope Factory and Wensleydale Creamery, to name but a few, are all within easy reach of Mystified Bungalow.

    This 17th century cottage is perfectly located in the picture-postcard village of Kettlewell within the lovely Yorkshire Dales National Park. Surrounded by a stunning backdrop of hills, the walking is superb straight from the door, with strenuous walks up the hills, or gentle strolls along the River Wharfe. The small garden has a terrace with garden furniture, and beautiful views over the Wharfedale hills and stone walls. The nearby river is an ideal place for picnics in summer. Grassington is a short drive away, with its winter Dickensian Festival as well as the 15-day summer Grassington Festival. The market town of Skipton, voted as one of the top 10 places to live (Sunday Times 2016) is approximately 16 miles away. With three pubs in Kettlewell village, all offering food from bar snacks to restaurant-quality food, as well as cafés and a thriving, well-stocked village shop, you are spoilt for choice. Shop 300 yards, pub 200 yards.
