As you wind your way up to the house, Ingleborough and Whernside, two of the three Yorkshire Peaks, come into view.

    Grisedale feels like a very remote place but is only 10 minutes from Garsdale Station, on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle line. Leeds has Victorian shopping arcades and Grand Theatre, home to Opera North and the Northern ballet. The border city of Carlisle has its castle and cathedral.

    Walkers can explore Baugh Fell, Swarth Fell and Wild Boar Fell from the doorstep. The Pennine Way and the Dales Way pass nearby. Cyclists can enjoy the quiet roads, and the route through the Dales taken by the 2014 Tour De France. The lively town of Hawes, with its Tuesday market, the Wensleydale Creamery, the Ropeworks and the Dales Museum, has long established shops, cafes and pubs.

    Sedbergh, the popular ’book town’, and Dent, with its cobbles streets, Meditation Centre and Heritage Museum, are each 30 minutes away. To the north is Kirkby Stephen, a Westmorland town of red sandstone on the edge of the Eden Valley, where there are attractive ancient villages to discover.Shop and restaurant 7 miles, pub 2½ miles.

    Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Roof Stones overlooks Wensleydale fells, moors, the River Ure and the unspoilt countryside between. Nestled on the outskirts of the bustling market town of Hawes, only a 5 minute walk,  with its county-renowned deli, the famous Wensleydale Creamery, Ropemakers Centre, restaurants, five pubs, tea rooms, bistro, clothes shops and lovely gift shops.     Riverdale is a beautiful character terraced cottage superbly situated in the centre of Bainbridge, itself in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage was previously part of a cottage hotel and has been made into a lovely holiday home. Bainbridge is a pretty village, with its green, several shops, tea rooms, and local pub less than 500 yards from the cottage. There is a riding centre about a mile west of the village. The cottage is spacious with three large bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, and a wood burner in the living room makes this the perfect holiday cottage. Aysgarth Falls and the market town of Hawes with pubs, shops and restaurants are both 4 miles away, with Hardraw Force just beyond Hawes. The village of Askrigg is within easy walking distance just 1½ miles away. Famous walks and cycle rides, including one around Semerwater with its inland beach, and waterfalls and Roman road on the return leg, can be accessed straight from the door. Fishing can be found 200 yards away. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

    There are two washrooms: a new shower/ wc on the ground floor and a shower/bath/wc on the first floor. The bedrooms (one double, two twins) are light and airy, with big windows and ample storage. The master bedroom in particular has spectacular views across the Dales towards the impressive Nappa Scar.
