Just a short drive from the popular holiday spots of Whitby and Scarborough, Harwood Dale is a quiet and peaceful location that serves as a perfect base camp for exploring the beautiful coastline in one direction and the vast North York Moors in the other. There is plenty to do in the moors, with miles of walking trails and bridleways, lakes to explore and wonderful wildlife such as deer, badgers and a number of birds to spot. The lush, green Harwood Dale Forest sits right next to the village, offering tranquil woodland walks.

For the more active holidaymaker, there are also sports such as rock-climbing and abseiling available. A short drive or hearty walk to the coast opens a number of other options, such as stunning cliff-top cycling paths or surfing at one of the many beaches and coves.

The coastal resort of Scarborough and Scarborough Castle is a short distance away and it a great option for a fun day. The castle was built in the Iron Age, it has seen the Vikings and the Romans in its time and still stands tall, offering panoramic views across the sea.
