    Newby is a village just north of Scarborough. The village has everything on the doorstep; shops, supermarket, pub, post office and a bank. A few minutes drive and you can be on the seafront at Scarborough or alternatively travel north to Whitby. The apartment is the perfect base for visiting all the wonderful beaches that the east coast has to offer, as well as the traditional Yorkshire villages with local pubs serving excellent food.

    In Scarborough there are some fantastic restaurants and for those who like the theatre what better place to visit than the Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to the world premieres of most of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. Scarborough has two beaches, the North and South bay both quite different from each other. The North Bay is the quieter of the two whereas the South Bay is the traditional seaside resort with amusements, donkeys, sandcastles and ice creams, perfect for the kids.

    Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and once again this apartment is situated in an ideal location to see most of them. From Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and the wonderful Castle Howard they are all within easy driving distance.

    You can drive or catch the train direct to York. In less than an hour you could be standing in the centre of York looking up at the splendour of the majestic York Minster. There’s so much to see and do in York and a good way to start is to walk the city walls or take one of the many open top tourist buses. The railway museum and the Viking centre are a very popular choice with the children.
