Step back in time and walk the quaint narrow passages, as Captain James Cook himself must have done. Here in Staithes there are village shops, pubs, cafes and a restaurant. Why not travel on Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express (the North Yorkshire Moors Railway) through ’Heartbeat’ country or visit Whitby and its famous Abbey which is 11 miles away.

The world famous Sutton Bank is accessible from the doorstep, with a path leading high into the hills with the most stunning views imaginable. The footpath at the top of Sutton Bank forms part of the well known walk, The Cleveland Way. Should you prefer to cycle, there are numerous cycle routes that meander their way through the magnificent countryside. There is a path leading directly into the village of Sutton Under Whitestonecliffe about a mile away, where guests can enjoy a hearty meal at the friendly pub. There is a gliding club at the top of White Horse Bank where guests may book to experience this relaxing ’flying’ sensation.
